Missouri agricultural producers and small businesses can apply for two grant programs offering up to $200,000 per project to support value-added agricultural products and expand market opportunities.

The Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority is accepting applications for its Value-Added Agriculture Grant and Missouri Value-Added Agriculture Farm to Table Grant Program.

The Value-Added Agriculture Grant covers business planning expenses, including feasibility studies, marketing plans, business plans, and legal assistance.

The Farm to Table program helps Missouri small businesses and agricultural producers purchase resources needed to process locally grown agricultural products for use in Missouri schools and institutions.

Previous projects supported through the programs have included planning for soybean processing, elderberry products, biofuels, and dairy products. Other projects have included purchasing meat processing equipment to support sales to institutions.

Applications will be evaluated based on economic development potential, project feasibility, available matching funds, and the geographic area expected to benefit from the project.

Applications must be received by 3 p.m. Dec. 15. Program guidelines and application information are available at www.agriculture.mo.gov/abd/financial/masbda/grant.html.
