Georgia livestock auction summary

The summary of livestock auctions in Georgia for the week ending May 17, totaled 7,493 selling, compared to 8,020 a week ago, according to the USDA to Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Georgia.

Compared to a week ago, the slaughter cows were selling unevenly steady, slaughter bulls were trading mostly steady, feeders over 600 pounds were steady to $2 lower and those under 600 pounds were mostly selling $1 to $4 lower, with replacement cows mostly steady. The supply included: 73% feeder cattle with 18% steers, 40% were heifers and 41% were bulls; 16% was slaughter cattle with 89% cows and 11% were bulls; and 9% was replacement cattle with 5% stock cows, 48% were bred cows and 47% were cow-calf pairs. The feeder cattle supply weighing over 600 pounds was 12%.
