Ozarks Regional livestock auction report

The Ozarks Regional Stockyards, West Plains, Missouri, reported receipts of 4,115 head selling on Dec. 4, compared to 4,109 head a week ago and 3,422 head last year, according to the USDA-Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Jefferson City, Missouri.

Compared to a week ago, steer calves were trading $6 to $12 lower with spots $15 lower. Heifer calves traded $3 to $6 lower with spots $10 lower. Yearlings were not well tested, however undertones were lower. Demand was light on a heavy supply presented in small packages. Full feedlots and unfavorable weather is making it difficult for the large volume of calves coming to town to find a home. Compared to a week ago, the weighted average on steers was $11.16 lower at $142.48 while the weighted average on heifers was $7.32 lower at $127.29. The feeder cattle supply included 47% steers, 47% heifers and 6% bulls. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 29%.
