Winter Livestock auction report

The Winter Livestock auction, Dodge City, Kansas, reported receipts of 3,434 head on April 25, compared to 3,060 head a week ago and 3,445 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.

Compared to a week ago, the feeder steers weighing 650 to 750 pounds were selling $5 to $10 higher and those 750 to 950 pounds were selling $1 to $3 higher. The feeder heifers from 750 to 950 pounds were steady to $3 higher. The steer and heifer calves experienced a firm to higher undertone on a light supply of medium and large frame 1 stock. The slaughter cows and bulls were steady to firm. The trade was active and the demand was good. The feeder supply was 55% steers and 45% was heifers with 83% weighing 600 pounds and over.
