Winter Livestock cattle auction report

The Winter Livestock Auction, Dodge City, Kansas, reported receipts of 2,667 head on May 16, compared to 3,157 head last week and 2,662 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.

Compared to a week ago, the feeder steers weighing 750 to 950 pounds were selling $3 to $5 lower. The feeder heifers from 650 to 700 pounds were selling $4 higher, those 750 to 850 pounds were selling $2 to $3 lower on a light test of medium and large frame 1 stock. The steer and heifer calves were selling $3 to $6 lower on a light test of medium and large frame 1 stock. The trade was moderate and the demand was slow. The slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $3 lower. The feeder supply was 62% steers and 28% was heifers with 84% 600 pounds and over.
