Salina livestock auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kansas, reported receipts of 4,102 head selling on March 29, compare to 3,070 head a week ago and 3,073 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, steers 800 to 950 pounds were selling $1 to $6 lower, 700 to 800 pounds were selling $3 higher, 700 pounds and under, a lower undertone was noted. In heifers 350 to 900 pounds, a lower undertone was noted with instances selling $2 higher. Trade was slow and demand was light. The feeder supply included 64% steers and 36% heifers, with 62% 600 pounds and over. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 62% (2,534).
