Ozarks Regional cattle sales report
The Ozarks Regional Stockyards, West Plains, Missouri, reported receipts of 3,537 head selling on Aug. 14, compared to 3,867 head a week ago and 3,122 head last year, according to the USDA-Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Jefferson City, Missouri.
Compared to a week ago, steer calves under 600 pounds were selling from $2 higher to $2 lower. Steers over 600 pounds were selling mostly $3 to $5 lower, with a few early sales trading steady to $2 lower. Heifers under 450 pounds were selling $4 to $5 lower and 450 to 700 pound heifers were selling steady to $3 lower. While there was no recent price comparison on heifers over 700 pounds a lower undertone was noted. Demand was moderate to good on moderate to heavy supply. The feeder cattle supply included 53% steers, 0% dairy steers, 41% heifers and 6% bulls. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 48%.
