San Angelo livestock auction report

The San Angelo Producers Livestock Auction Co. Report, San Angelo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,479 head selling on April 26, compared to 1,614 head a week ago and 1,590 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves and yearlings were selling $1 to $3 higher. Slaughter cows and slaughter bulls were selling $2 to $4 lower. Stock cows and pairs were not well tested. Trading and demand was moderate. Quality was full range from attractive to plain. The supply included 15% slaughter cows, 1% slaughter bulls, 79% feeders, 5% stock cows and pairs. The feeders included 60% steers and bulls, 35% weighed over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 200 to 225 lbs., 202.50 to 218.00; 330 lbs., 200.00; 467 lbs., 190.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 174.00 to 177.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 152.00 to 164.50, few 171.00 to 171.50; 700 to 750 lbs., 144.00 to 154.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 293 lbs., 192.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 183.00 to 186.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 179.00 to 188.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 157.00 to 167.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 144.00 to 151.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 134.00 to 142.00; 823 lbs., 131.50. Stock cows/heifers: All were pregnancy tested and all were sold by the head. Medium and large frame 2, 825.00 to 1000.00.

Pairs: All were sold by the pair. All have 150- to 350-lb. calves. Medium and large frame 2, 950.00 to 1125.00.

Stock/feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 800 to 1050 no test; young and middle age, 800 to 1100 lbs., 83.00 to 86.00 hundredweight; middle age, 900 to 1450 lbs., no test; thin and or aged, 800 to 1375 lbs., 62.00 to 69.00 hundredweight.
