Salina livestock auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kansas, reported receipts of 3,449 head selling on Aug. 30, compared to 2,586 head a week ago and 2,759 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, steers 700 to 1050 pounds were selling steady to $3 lower. In 700 pounds and under, a steady undertone was noted on a limited supply. Heifers 650 to 1000 pounds were selling $1 to $3 higher, 650 pounds and under a higher undertone was noted in a light offering. Trade and demand was moderate. The feeder supply included 66% steers and 34% heifers. The feeder cattle supply over 600 was 87% (3000).
