Dalhart livestock auction report
The Cattleman’s Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,897 head selling April 26, compared to 1,752 head a week ago and 1,387 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves under 600 pounds were selling firm in a limited test. Feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds were selling mostly steady to $1 higher. Receipts on offer were mostly load lots coming off winter wheat pasture. Slaughter cows and bulls were trading weak to $2 lower. Trade was fairly active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply was medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350- to 1000-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 20%, slaughter bulls less than 1%, replacement cows less than 1% and feeders 80%. The feeder supply included 51% steers and 49% heifers. Near 73% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
