Apache livestock auction report

The Apache Livestock Auction, Apache, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,634 head selling on July 19, compared to 1,803 head a week ago and 1,148 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, there were not enough comparable feeder steers and steer calves for a market test. Feeder heifers were selling $3 higher. Heifer calves were selling steady to $4 higher. Quality was good to attractive with moderate demand due to excessive heat indexes. The supply included 42% over 600 pounds and 58% heifers. Slaughter cows sold $2 to $3 lower. Slaughter bulls sold steady. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 394 cows and bulls sold with 58% going to packers.
