Pratt Livestock Auction report

The Pratt Livestock Auction, Pratt, Kansas reported estimated receipts of 2,684 head selling on Oct. 25, compared to 3,832 head a week ago and 1,134 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers 650 to 750 pounds were selling $5 to $7 higher, with a mostly higher undertone noted on all other comparable weights. Feeder heifers 800 to 850 pounds were selling steady to $4 higher, with a mostly steady to slightly lower undertone on all other comparable weights. There were not enough steer and heifer calves of comparable weights for a market test. Slaughter cows were selling mostly steady to slightly lower, a weaker undertone was noted on both bred cows and lean cows. Bulls were selling mostly steady on a limited test. Overall, demand was good to very good, quality was average to attractive. The feeder supply was 59% steers, 41% heifers, with 97% over 600 pounds.
