Russell feeder cattle auction report
The Russell feeder cattle weighted average report, Jan. 15, indicated receipts of 3,920 head, compared to 5,322 head last week, according to the USDA-Iowa Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Des Moines, Iowa.
Compared to a week ago, the feeder steers were mostly selling $1 to $3 lower and feeder heifers were mostly selling $1 to $2 lower. The trade was active and the demand was moderate. The receipts included 72% feeder cattle weighing over 600 lbs; 68% of the feeders were steers and 32% were heifers.
