Lexington Livestock Market report
The Lexington Livestock Market, Lexington, Nebraska, reported receipts of 3,970 head selling on Dec. 14, compared to 1,302 head a week ago and 2,546 head last year, according to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Kearney, Nebraska.
There were not enough receipts a week ago for an accurate comparison. Demand was good from the buyers in the crowd throughout most of the auction and began to taper off towards the end. Around 725 head of slaughter cows and bulls are included in the receipts. The calf and feeder supply included 54% steers and 45% heifers with the balance on bulls. Nearly 36% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
