Ogallala Livestock Auction report
The Ogallala Livestock Auction Market, Ogallala, Nebraska, reported receipts of 3,902 head selling on Sept. 6, compared to 2,260 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Kearney, Nebraska.
This was the first reported sale in several weeks, therefore a market trend is not applicable. Buyers bid readily from start to finish on a very light supply of bawling calves and on a heavy supply of yearling cattle. Quite a few yearlings came off of summer grass with several lots of pregnant open replacement heifers in the mix. The supply was comprised of 49% steers with near 94% of the run over 600 pounds.
