Tulia Livestock Auction report

The Tulia Livestock Auction, Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,755 head selling on July 12, compared to 1,466 head June 28 and 1,829 head last year, according to the USDA-Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to the June 28 sale, feeder steers and heifers were selling $2 to $4 higher. Trade was fairly active on good demand. Slaughter cows and bulls were trading steady to $2 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 2%, less than 1% replacements and 98% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 59% steers and bulls, and 41% heifers. Nearly 76% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, lot 315 lbs., 191.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 165.00 to 175.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 155.00 to 169.00, lot 586 lbs., fleshy; 600 to 650 lb. calves 145.25 to 150.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 150.00 to 151.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 145.00 to 153.00, load 702 lb. calves 139.75; few 843 lbs., fleshy 119.00; load 852 lbs., 135.25; few 978 lbs., 114.00.
