Salina feeder cattle auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kansas, reported receipts of 2,586 head selling on Aug. 23, compared to 3,454 head a week ago and 2,192 head a year ago, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, steers weighing 700 to 950 pounds were selling $1 to $2 lower and in those 700 pounds and under a lower undertone was noted. Heifers from 550 to 950 pounds were selling steady to $4 lower. Trade and demand were moderate. The feeder supply was 66% steers and 34% heifers. The feeder cattle supply weighing over 600 pounds was 96%.
