Tulia livestock auction report
The Tulia Livestock Auction, Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 742 head selling on Aug. 2, compared to 1,472 head a week ago and 1,278 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to a week ago, there were not enough comparable weight feeder steers to establish a market trend, but a lower undertone was noted overall. A higher undertone was noted in a limited number of comparable feeder heifers. Steer and heifer calves were trading mostly steady on a limited test. Trade was active and demand was good. Producers in the trading area continue to receive some moisture. Slaughter cows and bulls were trading unevenly steady. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 7%, less than 1% replacements and 93% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 53% steers and bulls, 47% heifers. Approximately 61% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
