Winter Livestock Auction report
The Winter Livestock Auction, Dodge City, Kansas, reported receipts of 1,494 head selling on Aug. 8, compared to 6,836 head a week ago, and 3,337 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.
There were no market trends available due to the special sale a week ago. Compared to July 25 sale, feeder steers were selling steady to slightly lower on comparable weights and heifers were selling steady to $2 higher on comparable weights. There were not enough calves for a market test. Slaughter cows were selling mostly steady to firm when compared to the sale on July 25. The feeder supply was 51% steers, 49% heifers with 86% over 600 pounds.
