The Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 260 head selling July 9, compared to 215 head selling June 25 and 628 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to the June 25 sale, there was no trend available on any class of cattle due to limited comparable sales. Trade was slow on moderate demand. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 2%, 0% replacements and 98% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 49% steers and bulls, 51% heifers. Approximately 34% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
Steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 455 lbs., 174.00; 650 to 700 lb. calves 137.00 to 139.00; couple 827 lbs., 136.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 616 lbs., full 126.00. Holstein steers, large frame 3, few 415 lbs., 51.00; few 570 lbs., 54.00.
Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, few 327 lbs., 171.00; few 490 lbs., 150.00; few 598 lbs., 141.50; few 725 lbs., 120.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, couple 575 lbs., 139.00.
