Hub City Livestock Auction report

The Hub City Livestock Auction, Aberdeen, South Dakota, reported receipts of 1,548 head selling on April 4, compared to 1,280 head a week ago and 6,950 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Compared to a week ago, a very light offering with best test on steers 900 to 950 pounds selling steady to $1 higher. Other weight classes of steers and heifers were not well tested for an accurate trend. There was good demand for this light offering that included one string of back grounded steers and several packages and a couple loads of home raised cattle. Mostly attractive quality on the cattle with most of the offering in moderate flesh. Steers made up 66% of the feeder supply, heifers 34% and 98% were over 600 pounds.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 8 head, 848 lbs., 124.50; 10 head, 874 lbs., 120.50. Large frame 1, 47 head, 1091 lbs., 117.75.
