Missouri CattleWomen’s Association honor Lesmeister

The Missouri CattleWomen’s Association awarded CattleWoman of the Year, its top honor, to Marylin Lesmeister from Montrose, Missouri, during the 50th Annual Missouri Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show held recently in Columbia, Missouri.

Growing up on a dairy farm in Henry County, Missouri, Lesmeister fed bottle calves to earn money for her college tuition. She also worked as a nurse for more than 30 years. Upon retirement, she became involved with MCW and served as vice president and president of the association.

Patty Wood, 2016 CattleWoman of the Year, said Lesmeister has truly been a positive voice for women in agriculture.

“Marylin continues to look for unique ways to promote agriculture,” said Wood. “She is a regular at the Missouri Beef Showcase at the Missouri State Fair, where she and other MCW members interact with consumers, conduct cooking demonstrations and explain the pasture to plate process.”

The Missouri Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show is hosted by the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association, MCW, Missouri’s Cattlemen Foundation, Missouri Junior Cattlemen’s Association and the Missouri Beef Industry Council.
