Ericson Livestock Auction report

The Ericson Livestock Auction, Ericson, Nebraska, reported receipts of 600 head selling on March 17, compared to 4,910 head a week ago and 4,263 head last year, according to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Kearney, Nebraska.

This was a special bred cow and heifer sale consisted of black, black white faced and red cows mated to Black Angus of Charolais bulls. Demand was good from a small crowd in the seats with internet activity noticed.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, bred heifers 1237 to 1268 lbs., 1410.00 to 1610.00 per head. Young Cows 1177 to 1365 lbs., 1575.00 to 1710.00 per head. Solid mouthed cows 1221 to 1580 lbs., 1500.00 to 1550.00 per head. Short to solid mouthed cows 1058 to 1189 lbs., 1010.00 to 1100.00 per head. Running ages cows 1351 to 1523 lbs., 1100.00 to 1200.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 years old, 1033 to 1255 lbs., pairs with newborn to 150-lb. calves 1825.00 to 2225.00 per pair.
