Dry conditions persist
Wyoming experienced above normal temperatures for the week ending Sept. 9, according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Mountain Regional Field Office, Wyoming. Twenty-three of the 33 reporting stations reported above normal temperatures for the week with a high temperature of 91 degrees recorded at Greybull and Lance Creek and a low of 28 degrees recorded at Yellowstone and Jackson Hole. Below normal moisture was reported at 33 of the 34 reporting stations. Twenty-one reporting stations had no precipitation. Torrington reported the most moisture with 0.42 inches. A reporter from north central Wyoming noted that dry conditions continued throughout the week. A reporter from western Wyoming indicated that the weather has continued to be dry with the fire potential rated as extreme. They also stated that they have had freezing temperatures almost every night. A reporter from southeastern Wyoming stated that they have not received moisture for over two weeks and dry, late summer conditions persist.
