Poultry meeting set for May 24

Chickens on traditional free range poultry farm

Are you thinking about starting a chicken flock or want to learn more about raising chickens in a small setting?

Join the River Valley District for a Basics of a Backyard Flock meeting with guest speaker Scott Beyer, Kansas State University Animal Science Department poultry specialist. Beyer will speak about tending to a small flock in a backyard setting at 6 p.m. May 24 in the 4-H conference room at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Clay Center, Kansas. Beyer will discuss the basics of chicken raising along with how to monitor for signs of avian influenza in chickens and how to manage it if it is present in the flock.
