Winter wheat rated 44 percent fair

For the month of December 2017, topsoil moisture supplies rated 19 percent very short, 34 short, 46 adequate, and 1 surplus, according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Northern Plains Regional Field Office, South Dakota. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 24 percent very short, 32 short, 43 adequate, and 1 surplus.

Winter wheat condition rated 15 percent very poor, 21 poor, 44 fair, 19 good, and 1 excellent.

The next monthly report will be issued Jan. 29. Weekly reports will begin April 2 for the 2018 season.
