Salina livestock auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kansas, reported receipts of 3,808 head on Jan. 18, compared to 3,089 head last week and 3,088 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week earlier, the steers from 600 to 1,050 pounds were selling $1 to $6 higher and those 600 pounds and under experienced a steady undertone. The heifers from 600 to 1,000 pounds were selling $3 to $4 higher and those 600 pounds and under experienced a higher undertone. The trade was active and the demand was moderate. The receipts included 87% were 600 pounds and over, 12% were 600 pounds and under and 1% were slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 62% steers and 38% was heifers.
