Ada livestock auction report
The Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction, Ada, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 2,147 head selling on Jan. 24, compared to 786 head a week ago and 3,393 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, steers under 500 pounds were selling $10 to $20 higher, over 500 pounds were selling steady to $3 higher. Heifers under 500 pounds were selling $3 to $7 higher and over 500 pounds were selling steady to $3 higher. Demand was very good for light weight calves, especially steers. Dry weather continues but so far not having an effect on the demand for grazing cattle. Heifers made up 45% and cattle over 600 pounds 31% of supply.
