Tama Feeder Cattle Auction report
The Tama Feeder Cattle Auction, Tama, Iowa, reported receipts of 736 head selling on Jan. 26, compared to 1,822 head a week ago, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Des Moines, Iowa.
This was a special pre-conditioned calf sale. Compared to a week ago, feeder steers were selling $3.50 to $6.50 lower. Feeder heifers 450 to 499 pounds were selling $1.50 to $1.75 higher, 500 to 549 pounds were selling $3 lower, 550 to 599 pounds were selling $3 to $4.00 higher, over 600 pounds were selling $1.50 to $3.50 lower. Trade was active. Demand was good. The supply consisted of 58.6% steers, 41.4% heifers and 71.1% were over 600 pounds.
