Ozarks Regional livestock auction report
The Ozarks Regional Stockyards, West Plains, Missouri, reported receipts of 3,389 head selling on March 6, compared to 3,127 head a week ago and 2,766 head last year, according to the USDA-Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Jefferson City, Missouri.
Compared to a week ago, steer calves under 600 pounds were trading $4 to $6 higher with heavier weights selling $2 to $4 higher. Heifer calves were trading unevenly steady to $5 higher. Yearlings were trading mostly steady in a light test of the market. Demand was very good on a moderate supply. The market was very active as regular buyers and some fresh faces competed for grass ready calves. Several high quality consignments, in moderate size packages, were in the offering. The feeder cattle supply included 54% steers, 1% dairy steers, 42% heifers and 3% bulls. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 35%.
