Amarillo Livestock Auction report

The Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, Texaas, reported receipts of 860 head selling on April 30, compared to 569 head a week ago and 435 head last year, according to USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, there was no trend for steers or heifers available due to a light test. Trade was fairly active on moderate to good demand. Several loads of yearlings were available in the offering. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling steady to $2 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 7%, 3% replacements and 90% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 59% steers and bulls, 41% heifers. Approximately 83% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 565 lbs., 156.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 150.00 to 154.00; few 799 lbs., 132.00; load 874 lbs., 131.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 550 to 600 lbs., 145.00 to 146.50; load 681 lbs., 149.50. Medium and large frame 2, few 743 lbs., 129.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 500 to 600 lbs., 141.00 to 142.00; few 654 lbs., 134.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, few 417 lbs., 162.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 127.00 to 141.00; few 630 lb. calves 127.00; lot 688 lbs., 134.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 522 lbs., 134.00; part load 636 lbs., 136.00; few 660 lbs., 123.00; load 794 lbs., 122.00.

Slaughter cows: Breaking, 75 to 80% lean, 1300 to 1600 lbs., 57.00; low dressing, 55.00. Boning, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1350 lbs., 63.50; high dressing, 65.50 to 67.50; low dressing, 55.00 to 58.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1200 lbs., 58.50 to 63.00; low dressing, 47.50 to 55.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, individual 1450 lbs., 75.50.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to short and solid mouth, 800 to 1250 lbs., 3 to 9 months bred 700.00 to 960.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to aged, 700 to 1250 lbs, with 75- to 200-lb. calves 910.00 to 1050.00 per pair.
