Apache Livestock Auction report

The Apache Livestock Auction, Apache, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,432 head selling on May 17, compared to 2,777 head a week ago and 2,086 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers and heifers were selling $1 to $3 lower. Steer and heifer calves were selling steady to $3 lower on limited comparable weights. Quality was good to attractive with moderate demand. The supply included 71% over 600 pounds and 33% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were selling $3 higher. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 127 cows and bulls sold with 59% going to packers.
