Springfield Livestock market report

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Missouri, reported receipts of 2,149 head on May 30, compared to 1,972 head last week and 1,943 head last year, according to the USDA-Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Jefferson City, Missouri.

Compared to a week ago, the steers and heifers were trading firm to $5 higher with spots up to $10 higher on calves weighing under 550 pounds. The supply was light and the demand was moderate. The feeder cattle supply included 55% steers, 5% was dairy steers, 37% was heifers and 2% was bulls. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 39%.
