Dalhart livestock auction report

The Cattleman’s Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,909 head selling on June 7, compared to 1,113 head a week ago and 1,870 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, steer calves under 600 pounds were selling steady in a limited test. Heifer calves under 600 pounds were selling steady to $2 lower. Feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds were selling steady to $2 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling steady to $2 higher. Trade was fairly active. Demand was fairly good. The bulk of the supply was medium and large frame 1 to 2, 450- to 925-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 17%, slaughter bulls less than 1%, replacement cows less than 1% and feeders 83%. The feeder supply included 42% steers and 58% heifers. Nearly 76% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
