Dalhart livestock auction report

The Cattleman’s Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,011 head selling on June 21, compared to 1,295 head a week ago and 1,934 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to week ago, steer and heifer calves under 600 pounds were selling $2 to $4 higher in a limited test. Feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds were selling firm to $2 higher in a limited test. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling steady to $1 higher. Trade was fairly active. Demand was fairly good. The bulk of the supply was medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 23%, slaughter bulls less than 1%, replacement cows less than 1% and feeders 77%. The feeder supply included 55% steers and 45% heifers, nearly 67% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
