Pratt Livestock Auction report

Pratt Livestock Auction, Pratt, Kansas, reported receipts of 2,493 head selling Aug. 2, compared to 1,690 head a week ago and 2,653 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers 800 to 900 pounds were selling mostly steady to firm. Feeder heifers 700 to 800 pounds were trading $5 to $7 higher, 800 to 900 pounds were selling $1 higher. There were too few steer and heifer calves to establish a market trend. Demand was moderate to good. Quality was average to mostly attractive. Slaughter cow offering was selling mostly $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were selling mostly steady. The feeder supply was 45% steers, 55% heifers with 96% over 600 pounds.
