Dalhart livestock auction report
The Cattleman’s Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 928 head selling on Aug. 10, compared to 850 head a week ago and 1,116 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to a week ago, there were not enough comparable sales on calves or feeders for good market test but a firm under tone was noted. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling steady to weak. Trade and demand was moderate to good. The bulk of the supply was medium and large frame 1 to 2, 450- to 950-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 21%, slaughter bulls less than 1%, replacement cows less than 1% and feeders 79%. The feeder supply included 68% steers and 32% heifers. Nearly 61% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
