Pratt Livestock Auction report

The Pratt Livestock Auction, Pratt, Kansas, reported receipts of 2,217 head selling on Aug. 9, compared to 2,493 head a week ago and 4,042 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers 800 to 900 pounds were selling mostly steady to $2 higher. Feeder heifers 600 to 700 pounds were selling steady to slightly lower, 800 to 900 pounds were selling steady to $4 lower. There were not enough steer and heifer calves of comparable weights for market test. Demand was moderate to good. Quality was average to mostly attractive. Slaughter cow offerings were selling mostly $1 to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were selling $4 to $5 lower. The feeder supply was 59% steers, 41% heifers, with 96.5% over 600 pounds.
