Pratt Livestock Auction report
The Pratt Livestock Auction Pratt, Kansas, reported receipts of 3,262 head selling on Aug. 30, compared to 2,395 head a week ago and 2,337 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers 850 to 900 pounds were selling $4 to $5 higher, with a steady to slightly higher undertone on all other comparable weights. Feeder heifers 650 to 700 pounds were selling $2 to $3 lower, with a steady to slightly lower undertone on all other comparable weights. Steer and heifer calves were selling steady to $1 higher on very few comparable weights. Slaughter cow offerings saw a sharp decrease. Slaughter bull offerings were trading $4 to $5 lower. Demand was moderate to good. Quality was average to attractive. The feeder supply was 36% steers, 64% heifers, with 94% over 600 pounds.
