McAlester livestock auction report
The McAlester Union Livestock Auction, McAlester, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,200 head selling on Oct. 16, compared to 1,400 head a week ago and 1,750 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, steer calves were selling $1 to $2 higher. Heifer calves were selling $2 to $3 higher. Demand was moderate. Quality was plain through average. The supply included 18% over 600 pounds with 41% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling mostly steady. Slaughter bulls were selling $10 higher. Packer demand was moderate to good. A total of 210 cows and bulls sold with 57% going to packers.
