Ft. Pierre Livestock Auction report
The Ft. Pierre Livestock Auction, Ft. Pierre, South Dakota, reported receipts of 8,131 head selling on Oct. 26, compared to 9,998 head a week ago and 7,363 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Compared to a week ago, steer calves under 550 pounds were selling mostly steady, the steers from 550 to 600 pounds were selling steady to $3 higher, 600 to 650 pounds were selling steady to $1 lower, 650 to 700 pounds were trading steady to $4 higher. Heifer calves from 400 to 450 pounds were selling $1 to $3 higher, while the 450 to 500 pounds were selling $1 to $3 lower. Balance of the heifer calves were selling steady. No price comparisons could be made on the yearlings due to limited numbers. The offering included 19% over 600 pounds with 64% steers, 36% heifers.
