Joplin Regional cattle sales report

The Joplin Regional Stockyards, Carthage, Missouri, reported receipts of 9,672 head selling on Dec. 3, compared to 9,990 head a week ago and 7,830 head last year, according to the USDA-Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Jefferson City, Missouri.

Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves were selling $4 to $8 lower, except steer calves under 450 pounds were trading steady, yearlings were selling $3 to $6 lower. Demand was moderate, supply heavy. Fewer outlets available following heavy movement of calves and yearlings to livestock markets.
