Corn, soybean, sorghum cash bids higher

Compared to Dec. 3, cash bids for corn, soybeans, and sorghum were higher, while wheat was mixed, according to the National Grain Market Summary, Dec. 4.

The monthly USDA grain crushing report showed corn use for ethanol in October has slipped 1.79 percent from a year ago at 461.7 MBU but was still 3.6 percent larger than September. Soybeans had a record crush of 182.95 MBU by U.S. plants in October. This is an 8.1 percent jump over September and 4 percent larger than a year ago.

Wheat was from 2 3/4 cents lower to 11 cents higher. Corn was 2 3/4 to 5 3/4 cents higher. Soybeans were 6 to 11 cents higher. Sorghum was 4 3/4 to 5 cents higher.

In the futures close, Kansas City March wheat was $5.05 1/4, down 1 1/4 cents.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $4.98 1/4, down 1 1/4 cents; Minneapolis, $5.99 3/4, down 2 3/4 cents; Portland, $6.15 to $6.30, unchanged; St. Louis, $5.42, up 11 to 1 cent.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $3.74 3/4 to $3.76 3/4, up 2 3/4 cents; Minneapolis, unavailable; southern Iowa, $3.48 3/4 to $3.61 3/4, up 2 3/4 to 5 3/4 cents; Omaha, $3.60 to $3.63, up 3 to 4 cents.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $8.76 3/4 to 8.81 3/4, up 6 cents; Minneapolis, unavailable; southern Iowa, $8.54 3/4 to $8.59 3/4, up 8 to 6 cents; central Illinois processors, $8.73 3/4 to $8.96 3/4, up 8 to 11 cents.

Kansas City wheat prices Dec. 4, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $6.25 1/4 to $6.40 1/4, down 1 1/4 cents; 12% protein, $6.54 1/4 to $6.69 1/4, down 1 1/4 cents; 13% protein, $6.60 1/4 to $6.75 1/4, down 1 1/4 cents; 14% protein, $6.65 1/4 to $6.80 1/4, down 1 1/4 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was unavailable. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $3.80 to $3.84 3/4, up 10 1/2 to 10 3/4 cents.
