Dalhart livestock auction report
The Cattleman’s Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 2,737 head selling on Dec. 6, compared to 2,663 head a week ago and 2,420 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to a week ago, steer calves were selling mostly steady with pre-conditioned kinds selling firm to $2 higher. Fleshy heifer calves were selling $1 to $2 lower, pre-conditioned kinds were trading firm to $2 higher. Feeder steers and heifers were selling firm to $2 higher. Supplies on offer were mostly weaned steer and heifer calves with pre-conditioning vaccinations. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling $1 to $2 lower. Trade was fairly active. Demand fairly good. The bulk of the supply was medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350- to 950-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 15%, slaughter bulls less than 1%, replacement cows less than 1%, and feeders 85%. The feeder supply included 66% steers and 34% heifers. Nearly 60% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
