Pratt Livestock Auction report
The Pratt Livestock Auction, Pratt, Kansas, reported estimated receipts of 2,956 head selling Dec. 20, compared to 2,853 head a week ago and 1,951 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.
This was the closing report. Compared to a week ago, feeder steers 700 to 750 pounds were selling $2 to $4 higher, 750 to 850 pounds were trading steady to $4 lower. Feeder heifers 550 to 650 pounds were selling $3 lower, 700 to 750 pounds were selling steady to $3 higher. Using a limited test, steer calves 400 to 450 pounds had a sharp increase of $10, with a higher undertone noted for weaned calves weighing less than 500 pounds. Heifer calves were selling mostly steady to $4 higher. Overall, demand was moderate to good, quality mostly average to attractive. Slaughter cows were selling $1 to $2 lower. Bulls were selling $3 to $4 lower using a limited test. The feeder supply was 67% steers, 33% heifers, with 79% over 600 pounds. Pratt livestock will be closed for the holidays.
