High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Jan. 8 reported receipts of 55,141 head of cattle selling compared to 51,919 head a week ago and 56,181 head trading a year ago, according to USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri. This report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots. 

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 19,763 head, 1,310 to 1,685 lbs., 172.00 to 175.50 (174.22); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,778 head, 1,225 to 1,600 lbs., 172.00 to 173.00 (172.55); 35 to 65% Choice, 1,358 head, 1,325 to 1,630 lbs., 172.00 to 173.00 (172.87). Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 254 head, 1,475 to 1,550 lbs., 175.00 to 176.50 (175.87). Dressed delivered, over 80% Choice, 10,709 head, 614 to 1,071 lbs., 273.00 to 276.00 (274.83); 65 to 80% Choice, 623 head, 906 to 1,033 lbs., 274.00.
