High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Jan. 15 reported receipts of 39,355 head of cattle selling compared to 55,141 head a week ago and 62,735 head trading a year ago, according to USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri. This report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots. 

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 11,261 head, 1,275 to 1,675 lbs., 171.00 to 175.00 (174.11); 65 to 80% Choice, 3,610 head, 1,110 to 1,585 lbs., 170.00 to 172.00 (171.76); 35 to 65% Choice, 687 head, 1,180 to 1,450 lbs., 172.00. Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 246 head, 1,500 to 1,600 lbs., 173.00 to 176.00 (173.80). Dressed delivered, over 80% Choice, 7,211 head, 857 to 1,055 lbs., 272.00 to 275.00 (273.75); 65 to 80% Choice, 450 head, 866 to 961 lbs., 273.00. Dressed FOB, over 80% Choice, 450 head, 929 to 953 lbs., 273.00 to 276.00 (274.83).
