The Oklahoma Pork Council, in collaboration with the Made in Oklahoma Coalition and Uptown Grocery Co., celebrated the end of Made in Oklahoma Month with an event that provided more than 400 free pork lunches to members of the Edmond community.
As part of the event, Sierra Jackson, the shopper sweepstakes winner selected from more than 1,650 entries, received a seven-minute grocery spree and the opportunity to fill a grocery cart with Made in Oklahoma products.
“This Uptown Grocery event not only celebrated the rich heritage of Oklahoma’s pork industry but also reinforced our ongoing commitment to supporting our local communities through meaningful partnerships and initiatives,” said Kylee Deniz, executive director of the Oklahoma Pork Council.
Roy Cansler, a pig farmer from Seiling and a contributing member of the Prairie Fresh team at Seaboard Foods, spoke about local pork producers’ strong impact on the community. “Each year, we strive to enhance our engagement with the community, underscoring the crucial role pig farmers play in our local economies. Witnessing the direct effects of these efforts during events like this is a privilege,” he said.
Cansler also serves on the Oklahoma Pork Council board of directors.
