High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Oct. 27, reported receipts of 70,352 head of cattle selling compared to 82,774 head a week ago and 55,183 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 31.018 head, 1,240 to 1,675 lbs., 187.00 to 192.00 (189.79); 65 to 80% Choice, 4,765 head, 1,235 to 1,600 lbs., 190.00; 35 to 65% Choice, 1,065 head, 1,300 to 1,400 lbs., 190.00. Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 404 head, 1,500 to  1,550 lbs., 189.00 to 192.00 (191.14). Dress delivered, over 80% Choice, 6,128 head, 837 to 1,092 lbs., 296.00 to 304.00 (297.11); 65 to 80% Choice, 942 head, 879 to 1,040 lbs., 296.00.
