High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Jan. 27, reported receipts of 67,134 head compared to 65,269 head a week ago and 69,654 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 27,919 head, 1,302 to 1,700 lbs., 201.00 to 212.00 (210.22); 65 to 80% Choice, 3,243 head, 1,285 to 1,600 lbs., 201.00 to 212.00 (202.45); 35 to 65% Choice, 868 head, 1,245 to 1,500 lbs., 201.00 to 202.00 (201.20).  Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 690 head, 1,475 to 1,540 lbs., 207.20 to 214.00 (210.79).  Dress delivered, over 80% Choice, 6,421 head, 824 to 1,111 lbs., 320.00 to 339.00 (329.73); 65 to 80% Choice, 571 head, 914 to 958 lbs., 325.00 to 330.00 (329.53); 35 to 65% Choice, 55 head, 868 lbs., 330.00.
